Noiseproofing Joist Tape
One of the biggest noise complaints in a new construction is the sound of squeaky floors that develops over time. Squeaking occurs naturally when floors settle and joists rub against the subfloor, but this friction is avoidable when access to the joist is possible. Unlike liquid adhesives or nails, Green Glue Noiseproofing Joist Tape is a foam tape that creates a flexible barrier, preventing squeaks from occurring as joists and subfloors dry and shrink and the building settles.
The bright color allows builders to highlight the installation to clients while the subfloor and joists are visible.
Noiseproofing Joist Tape installation considerations

Applying Joist Tape takes practically no time at all and can easily be incorporated into flooring jobs with our patented roller which can be purchased from one of our Green Glue Soundproofing Specialists. Simply roll tape onto floor joists, adhesive side down, and install subflooring on top.
Some details to keep in mind when using Green Glue Noiseproofing Joist Tape:
-
The use of construction adhesive is NOT possible when securing the subfloor
-
Temperatures should be at least 50°F (10°C) when applying Joist Tape to ensure the pressure sensitive adhesive will function
-
Surfaces must be clean of dirt, water and ice
-
Use "nail-only" data when calculating joist spans
-
Use ring-shanked nails or screws as mechanical fasteners
-
Do not peel off “liner” (shiny top surface) as this is a key component of the noiseproofing technology
