Green Glue Noiseproofing Sealant is a high-performance alternative to standard latex or silicone caulk for interior acoustical applications. Noiseproofing Sealant installation considerations

When installing Sealant, the size of the gap being filled is what matters most. It is recommended to leave a 1/8 - 1/2 in (0.3 - 0.6 cm) maximum gap around the perimeter of your wall or ceiling drywall to fill with Sealant; if the gap is larger, the Sealant will not cure properly. Once the Sealant has been applied to the wall seems, allow 48 hours to dry before covering it with standard finishing materials, such as mud and tape. Our Sealant can be painted over and will continue to block sound once it has been covered.

A good rule of thumb is that for every 6 tubes of Green Glue Noiseproofing Compound, you will need one tube of Sealant
Sealant can also be used to fill small gaps around switch boxes, outlets and interior windows to stop noise from sneaking in
You can use the same 32-oz caulking gun used to apply Compound to also apply Sealant
Sealant does not offer any protection or seal against water and should only be used in interior applications

Applying Green Glue Noiseproofing Sealant

Step 1

Tap Sealant tube on a hard surface to bring Sealant away from the tip to prevent dripping.

Step 2

Cut a ¼ in (6.35 mm) hole in the tip of the tube with a utility knife, screw nozzle tightly over the tip of the tube and cut a ¼ in (6.35 mm) hole in the tip of the nozzle before placing the tube in a standard caulk gun.

Step 3

Apply to gaps 1/8 – ¼ in (0.3 – 0.6 cm) size where the wall meets the floor or ceiling.
